01/02/2012 Dublin Chamber of Commerce, 7 Clare Street, Dublin 2 Services Innovation presents challenges beyond its traditional, older sibling, Product Innovation. The output of services is often less tangible, harder to articulate and test. The ongoing, ever-present, support requirements are insatiable.
This briefing will outline Service Innovation principles and techniques from the leading edge of practice. It will also identify the key skillsets being used to develop and deliver excellence in services for customers, users and providers.
About the speakers:
Brian Hayes, Managing Director, Global Transaction Services, Citibank Europe plc
Brian is responsible for the strategy, development and performance of Citibank’s (Citi) Global Transaction Services (GTS) franchise in Ireland. He is also responsible for Citi Innovation Labs, EMEA and set up the first Research, Development, Innovation and Learning Centre in the Financial Services industry in Ireland based in Citibank Europe plc headquarters in Ireland.
Kevin Johnson
Kevin was appointed CEO of the Credit Union Development association in 2008, prior to this he had over 25 years experience of providing financial services to members of EBS Building Society, where he held many senior management positions. He has headed up each of the core product businesses, in particular savings, investments, residential mortgages, personal lending, life and general insurance, and was responsible for establishing and developing a Member Contact Centre, a Business Innovation Centre, and the bancassurance business.
Keith Finglas
Keith spent twenty years in programme management with G.E. (U.S.A.), Guinness and Intel in Europe, the U.S.A., South America and the Far East, before setting up Innovation Delivery Ltd. with Chris Kurjan. With Chris, Keith has developed services innovation courses for Smurfit Business School’s Executive Education programme: these programmes have been delivered to the Irish Stock Exchange and An Garda Siochana, while a customised programme has also been delivered to the world-wide marketing team of the IDA.

The Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) ICT Policy Support work programme supports the realisation of European policies and in particular the Digital agenda for Europe and is aligned with its priorities. It aims at stimulating smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth by accelerating the wider uptake and best use of innovative digital technologies and content by citizens, governments and businesses.
This year the main focus will be on the following five themes:
- ICT for “Smart Cities”
- Digital Content, open data, and creativity
- ICT for health, ageing well, and inclusion
- ICT for innovative government and public services
- Trusted e-services and other actions
At the Information Day there will be discussions on:

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Dr. Mazhar Bari is the co-founder and CEO of SolarPrint Ltd. He holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Cambridge (1996) and an MBA Smurfit School of Business, Dublin (2003). He holds patents in energy materials and devices. He is an expert in technology commercialisation and scaling. SolarPrint has raised 4M Euro to date and is currently shipping prototype product to customers. SolarPrint has made huge progress in turning our core printable dye sensitised solar cell (DSSC) technology into a leading energy harvesting product (to enable wireless sensors).
