A Portuguese based SME has developed a tiny, minimal, removable house using 100% green and recyclable materials to deliver high quality, environmentally friendly, functional and comfortable housing solutions. This cork-clad home pops up almost anywhere with minimal impact and is a registered trademark in Europe.
The SME is looking for distributors to help establish the product in new markets. It is also open to manufacturing agreements with European partners requiring a bespoke service.
The Portuguese architecture company established in 2016 is responsible for the design of a prefabricated tiny house that can be transported and pop up nearly anywhere to offer an immersive experience in the outdoors.
The startup chose cork cladding due to the material’s local availability, environmentally friendly, thermal and acoustic insulation qualities, and ability to help the house blend into a forest landscape. In addition to cork, wood is also used for the structure and interior finish.
Available in three models ranging from 9 to 16 m2, the house includes the basic essentials of living including a sleeping area, kitchen, bathroom, and living space and is decorated with transforming and multifunctional furniture such as the sleeping area that can morph into a living and dining space, large enough for entertaining guests.
The versatile house can also be customized to the homeowner’s needs and the demands of the site with the potential for off-grid capability (power can either come from the grid or from solar or wind power).
The wood-and-cork cube house is prefabricated off-site and the typical build takes approximately two weeks to complete. The removable houses are installed on a raised foundation and are designed for minimal impact on the landscape.
This cube-shaped house is geared toward tourism but is also available for private purchase.
The company is now looking to expand into new markets around Europe, with particular emphasis on eco-tourism and other forms of responsible tourism. It is envisaged that the partnership will take the form of a distribution services agreement.
For European partners requiring bespoke services, the Portuguese company is open to signing a manufacturing agreement and using its in-house R&D team to develop new products.
- Specific area of activity of the partner: The company is looking for distribution partners in Europe willing to represent the company and distribute the minimal portable houses on their market. The company is interested in partnering with distributors being well networked in the tourism/construction sectors.
The SME is also available to provide bespoke services to partners by way of a manufacturing agreement.
