SPEAKER PROFILES

Tony Connelly

Tony Connelly is Europe Editor for RTÉ. More than any other journalist, Tony has been helping the public make sense of the implications of Brexit for Ireland.  He has reported extensively on the period before and after the referendum, and prior to that covered the European refugee crisis, the Greek debt situation, the Irish bail-out and the financial crisis dating back to 2008.

Tony is the recipient of two ESB National Media awards, a European Journalism Award and a New York Festivals radio award for his radio documentary on the Shaktar Donetsk football club in Ukraine. In print he has worked for the Irish Independent, Time Magazine and United Press International (UPI).

His book, Brexit and Ireland: The Dangers, the Opportunities and the Inside Story of the Irish Response, was shortlisted for Irish non-fiction book of the year in 2017.

Steve Murnaghan

Steve Murnaghan, Founder and Managing Consultant of NITC, has lived in and operated across mainland Europe for 30 years. NITC specialises in assisting SMEs from Ireland to develop export business and grow their sales into Western Europe, The Nordics and Central and Eastern Europe and Russia. Steve manages a team of local path-finding consultants across 20 markets to generate export sales, to source and to develop longterm business partnerships. Most recently, NITC is working with companies across a variety of sectors and markets helping them to adapt to the “new Brexit normal”.

Cathal Doherty

Cathal Doherty is Head of Finance & Supply Chain with Nomadic Dairy, a Donegal-based producer of consumer dairy products with a focus on single serve/Food to Go (FTG) formats. Nomadic derives 85% of its sales from mainland UK, which brings significant operational and strategic challenges, the latest of which being Brexit. Despite this latest challenge the firm’s vision remains to continue to double in size every 5 years.

Cathal heads up Nomadic’s Finance & Supply Chain functions, and has helped guide the business through various challenges, namely a doubling of the business, preparing the business to double again, a 20% drop in GBP/Eur exchange rate and Covid-19. Tony is confident that the latest set of challenges presented by Brexit will be worked through and overcome and Nomadic Dairy will continue to thrive and prosper in the heart of Donegal.

Ingrid De Doncker

Ingrid is CEO of IDDEA and Ireland’s foremost thought leader in Strategic Procurement. IDDEA helps customers “Buy Better”, achieve cost savings while building better relationships with suppliers and stronger, more resilient supply chains, the latter being particularly relevant in the context of Brexit.

A sought-after speaker, and lecturer in three of Ireland’s universities, Ingrid is passionate about supporting procurement and supply chain teams and advising how to drive sustainable change to positively impact the profit, social and environmental bottom line of the business.

Ingrid is also the founder of the Procurement Transformation Institute (PTI), a non-for profit organization that elevates the Procurement Profession.
