Last week, the Enterprise Europe Network was delighted to support the launch of AI Works for Ireland, a new initiative from Google Ireland and the Local Enterprise Offices offering SMEs practical AI skills through complimentary regional events and no‑cost access to the Google AI Professional Certificate for up to 10,000 participants.
The series began in Dublin during Local Enterprise Week and continues with events in Galway (30 April), Cork (14 May) and Monaghan (28 May), each featuring Google AI experts and hands‑on workshops to help SMEs use AI to drive growth, creativity and efficiency.
As a key part of the Enterprise Europe Network, the Local Enterprise Offices connect SMEs in every county with the right support at the right time, with national coordination by Enterprise Ireland ensuring access to both local and European expertise.
Research released at the launch shows clear demand for this support: 80% of SMEs see the potential of AI, yet 20% are not using it at all, with fear of mistakes and lack of skills among the top barriers.
Ahead of the launch, Minister of State Niamh Smyth highlighted the importance of helping SMEs build confidence and capability to adopt AI at pace.
AI Works for Ireland will be a valuable tool in an SME’s digitalisation kit - complementing the wider supports available across Ireland’s digitalisation ecosystem and contributing to the ambitions of the Government’s new Digital Ireland - Connecting our People, Securing our Future strategy.
