A UK company has developed a novel method of treating haemorrhoids (piles) and is seeking medical clinics to adopt the procedure and receive training. They are seeking either individual clinics or associations of clinics across Europe to use the electrotherapy device for the safe treatment of piles. The procedure has been approved for the UK and is CE compliant. They are seeking clinics with experience in colorectal procedures via licensing or commercial agreements with technical assistance.
An estimated 8 million people in the UK alone are affected by piles (haemorrhoids).
Electrotherapy is a fast, effective and safe treatment for piles recently introduced in the UK. NICE (The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) has published positive guidance regarding electrotherapy treatment and more than 150,000 treatments have already been carried out worldwide.
The procedure is simple and usually causes minimal or no discomfort. A gentle current is applied to the base of the haemorrhoid for up to ten minutes. During treatment the piles shrink, and if not completely removed they continue to shrink for a week or more following treatment.
There is no need for sedation or anaesthetic and no recovery time. Patients can usually walk straight out of the clinic and get on with their lives.
The UK company is seeking new clinics outside of the UK to deliver the procedure. The company will supply the machine and training in its use, as well as providing ongoing service support.
The machine is CE and ISO 13485 compliant and the company are seeking additional manufacturers in Europe to assist in their planned expansion. A range of clinics in the UK already deliver the treatment.
The UK company is seeking clinical practitioners or surgeons with colorectal experience or speciality to deliver the procedure and would also like to meet any national organisations that represent private clinics working in this area, via commercial agreement with technical assistance or licensing agreements.
