A start-up from Poland has developed a web and mobile application promoting the Zero-Waste social trend. Its goal is to prevent food wasting by sharing information on near-expired products available at discount prices in grocery stores.
Consumers will gain the possibility to buy food at special prices while sellers will reduce financial costs related with disposal of expired products.
The mobile app works on Android operating system. Users can log in with Facebook or Gmail. There are two types of accounts: individual for customers and corporate for business partners. The system allows online payments and sends notifications on current discounts.
Licence agreement with grocery store owners is sought. Partners will encourage clients to buy near-expired products at lower prices, contributing to the reduction of food waste. App developer will charge commission on sold products (6% a year) from food sellers and subscription fees (approx. 12/year) from users.
- Specific area of activity of the partner: Partner type: grocery store chains. Role: promote the app among their clients to encourage them to search and buy near-expired products at special prices. Partners will be able to run paid marketing campaigns against food wasting or advertise selected products or stores within a chain.
The application lists offers of discounted food products available at all registered grocery stores. Geo-location functionality allows to find particular products in the nearest area.
This solution has a considerable success potential, as it is hard to find a similar app presenting near-expired food products available at lower prices available in local stores. It is also beneficial in the ecological dimension, because limiting food waste will contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions. This application promotes sustainable consumption.
